Do I need a drivers/motorcycle licence to ride a motorcycle in Sri Lanka?
Yes. We do not allow guests to operate our motorcycles without a motorcycle licence and this is also a requirement of the law in Sri Lanka. It is our policy that guests who intend to operate a motorcycle are required to have a minimum provisional licence and we do not allow guests to operate a motorcycle if they hold a learners licence. If you have a drivers and motorcycle licence, you will need to get this endorsed in Sri Lanka for a fee, which is covered in our tour package. We can organise the endorsement for you in advance of your arrival in Sri Lanka, however, we would need a copy of your licence prior to your visit so that we can take it to the Sri Lanka Roads and Transport Authority for endorsement. We will advise you of the logistics for this when you book with us.
Does Taprobane Escapades provide a support vehicle, mechanic and guide for motorcycle tours?
Yes we do. We maintain all of our motorcycles and every tour is accompanied by a mechanic and a support vehicle.
What types of bikes does Taprobane Escapades use on motorcycle tours?
We have a fleet of Honda XR250 and Yamaha TTR250 trail bikes. These can be seen in some of the pictures featured on our Homepage and Instagram page.
Do I need travel insurance to take a tour with Taprobane Escapades?
Yes. Taprobane Escapades does not cover guests for any injury, damage to property or damage to third parties. Guests will be required to sign a disclaimer to this end prior to commencing a tour. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
What kind of accommodation is included in the tours?
All accommodation suppliers have been tested and vetted by Taprobane Escapades to ensure comfort, quality of service and food. Accommodation is a vital part of the tour experience and we have gone to great lengths to ensure all our accommodation is up to our high standards.

Are the tour guides English speaking?
Yes. Our tour guides speak fluent English and we can organise tour guides that speak other languages upon request.
Do I need to be of a certain age to be able to take a tour?
We cater for all ages, however, guests who intend to operate a motorcycle will need to be old enough to hold a valid motorcycle licence.
